In January 2011, the European Commission, DG Enterprise and Industry, launched an initiative to study the specific e-skills requirements relating to green IT, cyber security and cloud computing with special focus on competitiveness and innovation and the needs of SMEs and start-ups. The finished study explores the needs of ICT practitioners and entrepreneurs. It provides input to the e-skills agenda, and identifies and promotes best practices at EU and national level.

What are e-skills?Read more

The European e-Skills Forum has defined three main types of e-Skills

  1. ICT practitioner skills;
  2. ICT user skills; and
  3. E-business skills.

In September 2007, the European Commission  adopted a Communication on "e-Skills for the 21st Century" based on the definition and the recommendations formulated by the European e-Skills Forum. The Digital Agenda for Europe adopted in 2010 further confirmed the importance og enhancing European e-skills. In the study, we focus on the needs of ICT practitioners and entrepreneurs.
